The Volcano in Virgo

Say no to tyranny.

Virgo translated from Latin means: girl, damsel, virgin.

The solar time between August 23 and September 22 is the sun traveling through the constellation of Virgo. Historically, this is a time of harvest. Across cultures, goddesses relating to harvest are associated with Virgo: Demeter, Ceres, Nunbarshegunu (Nisaba), Renenutet, Guan Yin, Ixchel, Ala, Erecura, to name merely a few.

Dame Mary Beard has added greater nuance to our understanding of the Classical World. Virgin in Ancient Rome meant a woman not answerable to men. Such women existed in two categories only: Priestess and prostitute. Both categories were separate from all other women as defined by men of this patriarchal society.

We are experiencing an extreme patriarchal overlay of government with the current administration. They claim that equality is unnatural. Men of a certain mindset and color are in supreme control and we are told by this administration that you must be with them or else you are against them: You are the enemy. You, the American citizen, are the enemy.

The able doctor, or America swallowing the bitter draught.

Note of clarification: Tyranny is defined as “oppressive power” by Webster’s Dictionary. Tyranny is why the American Revolution was fought. Americans by nature are against tyranny.

Women may appear to share control in this administration but only insofar as they serve to buttress declarations made by and for men. Under Project 2025, these patriarchy-purveyors seek to reduce women to two roles: generative and mother. And unlike Ancient Rome, these categories of women will not be unanswerable to men. All other categories - which are myriad and include people who identify as female and “other” - are openly discussed in the present administration and its arbiters of policy as a drain on society (see Russell Vought; Peter Thiel; JD Vance; Pete Hegseth; and Jeffrey Epstein, whose presence projects beyond the grave as misogynists do contortions to protect one another in their worship of Jeffrey Epstein Depravity).

In the U.S. we are in a time of increasing violence. The celebration of the tools of violence, be they words, thoughts, deeds, guns, is the ammunition sprayed by this administration and, let us be frank, the troll farms employed to psyop our citizens by our arch enemy, the KGB embodied in Putin. Roll out the red carpet.

The many goddesses of Virgo have another side to their abundance of harvest attributes. It is the ability to harness deep, under-ground force, the force that can cause the eruption of volcanoes and spew fire. This force is violent, but it is a violence that begets life. Like the process of birth itself.

In this time of Virgo, I encourage you to reach deeper within yourself than you may be accustomed to and dare to claim the richness of what you are. Your gender does not matter; it is not a judgment. You matter. You are a human being endowed by your Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
